Olympic National Park

3 Day itinerary for Olympic national Park, Washington

Tip 1: If you are driving from Seattle, it would be better to leave early as you may get stuck in traffic after 10 AM especially during the long weekends.

Day 1

#Hurricane Ridge

Hurricane Ridge is 17 miles drive from Port Angeles visitor center. On a bright sunny day, it is a breathtaking view at the Hurricane Ridge. There are 4 short trails, where you can encounter a deer. They are commonly seen here wandering. You can grab a coffee at the cafe/visitor center as it is cold there at that height. You may need a jacket, scarf even gloves!

#Lake Crescent

Picturesque site.

Day 2 : Sol Duc Falls

There are no hot springs at Sol duc but a resort with a big hot water pool(Entry fee is $10) We had lunch at the restaurant next to the pool.

The interesting part is Sol duc falls hike : It is a 1.5 mile round trip hike to the Sol-duc falls, very beautiful.

# Cape flattery

Here is a slideshow of few pics I took at Cape flattery. It is a great place for watching Sunset.

Day 3: Forks town : Twilight

You can easily cover twilight sites in half an hour. I visited visitor center with Bella’s truck, Forks high school and swan’s house. I would recommend this only if you are a big twilight fan.

# Hoh Rainforests

Look at that huge tree! Some of these trees in Hoh rain forests are 20 feet high and 200 years old. I got a chance to get clicked next to this giant one while hiking through the spruce trail. Catch me if you can, in this picture. Where am I ?

Spruce trail
Hall of Moses trail(.5 mile)

Day 3 : Second Beach

Second beach is one of the beaches on the Pacific ocean side. Its half an hour drive from forks.

Hike down to the beach through the forest (Beware of bears!) for about .7 mile. This beach is huge and serene. You can also camp at the beach.

We headed back to Seattle which is a 4 hour drive from Second Beach. It was an amazing weekend at Olympic National Park, refreshing enough to survive another week at work!

Next time I am going to cover Shi-shi beach, La push and Quinault lake and rainforests.

    1. We stayed at Port Angeles (Holiday lodge) for one night and Forks town (Forks Motel) for the 2nd night.
I booked motels 2 days before the long weekend, so every place was fully booked. Had to call individual motel to find out if they have a room available. I would recommend booking beforehand, that will help you find a better motel based on the reviews as well as at the right price.
